Event Details

Dr. Gordon Neufeld, a Vancouver-based clinical psychologist and international authority on child development, is bringing his popular and inspiring weekend parenting course to Marin in March 2006. Author of the bestselling, "Hold On to Your Kids", Dr. Neufeld has over 30 years experience working with children and their families and has a gift for helping parents understand their children and what they can do to have stronger relationships with them. According to Dr. Neufeld, the power to parent is slipping away. Despite our having more know-how than our predecessors, parenting is actually becoming more difficult. In uncovering the natural source of our power to parent, Dr. Neufeld offers practical advice on how to: *Positively guide and direct our children *Harness the power of attachment to nurture and protect *Use discipline that is effective and doesn't harm our relationship with our children *Deal with aggression and resistance- and help kids get "unstuck" *Encourage kids to draw their values & behaviour from family, not peers * Much, much more The March event with Dr. Neufeld will be sponsored by Transformative Parenting, a Marin-based Parent Coaching, Counseling, and Educational Consulting organization. We are hosting 3 FREE preview talks that will cover a lot of the material from Dr. Neufeld's book and give you an idea of the topics that will be covered in the Power to Parent weekend. The speaker will be Todd Sarner, Co-Director of Transformative Parenting, who has trained extensively with Dr. Neufeld. Although this material is addressed to parents, it is most definitely appropriate and applicable to teachers, counselors, and others who work with children.
